Kingston Fireworks 2019 – Update

The good weather attracted an exceptional crowd last Friday evening when Kingston Rotary Club and Kingston Round Table came together once again to provide the local community with a spectacular fireworks event at the Weir Archer Fitness and Athletics centre. This joint event has been held for over 19 years and because both organisations provide their time voluntarily, both in the build up to the event and on the night, it has generated thousands of pounds for local charities and good causes. Last year the funds generated were used to assist in the purchase of a community bus for Richmond and Kingston Accessible Transport, RaKAT.

This year the two clubs, together with New Malden Rotary club, sponsored tickets for families supported by Kingston Refugee Action. Chairman of the Fireworks Committee Rotarian Alan Stevenson said 'This event is only possible with the fantastic support of our local Police, the team at the Weir Archer Fitness and Athletics Centre, AFC Wimbledon and The Royal Borough of Kingston, and further input from St John Ambulance 328 Kingston ATC cadets,Explorer Scouts and Radio Jackie. We were also very grateful that the Worshipful Mayor Cllr Margaret Thompson and her consort Richard Thompson were able to participate. Above all thanks to everyone who attended to make this a very special community fundraising event'.”
