KRT supports LEAH

Kingston Round Table has made a donation to Learn English at Home, LEAH.
LEAH has been working in Kingston since 1982 to support ethnic minority adults with very low levels of English. When referred to LEAH by health workers, social workers and other charities these adults are socially isolated and unable to speak to their GP or their child's teacher. Many suffer from physical or mental ill health, domestic violence or other challenging circumstances. Each person is paired with a trained and vetted volunteer who offers a bespoke language course an hour a week in the client's home, bringing together practical language teaching with sign-posting to local services. As language skills increase this extends to other learning offers. The work of LEAH changes people's lives, empowering them to reach their potential and to become active in their community.
The donation is in the form of starter packs, worth approximately £500, which will be used to start the journey of new learners.
